Five on Friday has now been running for a whole year!! Congratulations Amy on reaching this milestone!! If you have never joined up for Five on Friday, I highly recommend it. Actually for today's "five" I've decided to write five things that I like best about Five on Friday ;)
And since I don't always share photos of myself on my blog, today I am going to share some of me old and new(er).

No pressure! Like many of you, I have unwanted pressures and worries in my life. Some worries are little niggling worries ... "will I get everyone out the door and to school on time". Others are major worries ... "what will my daughter do after graduating university". But! When you are going to write a post for Five on Friday, it can be about anything!! You're not restricted to the theme of the link party because everyone chooses their own theme ... you don't even have to have a theme, the topics can be random. Five minutes to share five things. Easy peasy :)
me, my sister, Mom, at home |
Two:
Your photographs can be any subject matter!! Within reason, of course. You can photograph things around your house, visits to historic sites, the view off the toppest hill in your area!! It doesn't matter ... you just need to click the camera five times ... done! You photos don't even have to relate at all to what you're writing about!
me and my daughter with butterflies on our shoulders! |
Three:
You have lots of time to put together a post! A whole week in between each Five on Friday, and Amy even keeps the door to the link party open until 7 pm UK time for us late arrivals. Thanks Amy! This week, she's keeping the door open even longer ... hope there isn't a draft!

Four:
It's relatively quick to visit a few (or a lot!) of other blogs that are linked up to the party. Most people write a fairly quick read for these posts, so you don't get bogged down reading lots of heavy material. I think I tend to ramble a bit, but I try to keep my posts succinct.
happy days with Mom & Dad |
Five:
Let's not forget the hostess of this link party, the lovely Amy herself! Amy is a very dear friend and I think she is a very kind and forgiving friend as well. She has a quick sense of humour and really cares about everyone she meets. I've joined other parties where you are left kind of hanging there with no visits back from the host of the link party and not many visits from other participants either. But with this link party, Amy really pulls everyone together and I have more visits through this party than any other posts I write. I've also met many other kind people through this link party, and begun new friendships through it all. A reflection I think of Amy herself!

And that's my five ... only five! Thank you Amy for continuing with this fun link party every Friday / Saturday :) It's a pleasure to come over to yours on Fridays and tour around visiting everyone. It's turned into my Friday night / Saturday read time in blogland!
Thanks so much for visiting today, and I hope you too will be linking up to Five on Friday!

Well I enjoy your "fives" but then I enjoy your longer posts as well, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteMe, I am not very good at "succinct"...it's kind of a fluke when I write a short blog post ;)
Hello Wendy, I really enjoyed looking at all of your photos of you. I love the ones with you and your daughter! Wishing you a wonderful day and weekend.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julie xo
Nice to look back over your old family photos Wendy and I agree that Amy's personality shines through for her meme. I try to join 5 on Friday once a month myself and like the open subject opportunity.

Hello Wendy. I haven't seen your blog before so was happy that the Friday linkup gave me that opportunity. I am so happy with the five Friday thing that I do that almost exclusively now. Good to meet you. Hope to see you around a lot.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post and your family photos. This is a party I enjoy as well, because it is so random (apart from the five thing of course). And I too have taken part in other linky parties where you get little or no response which can be quite disappointing. Anyway, have a good week.

Wonderful photos, Wendy, love the smiling faces. I love reading your Five On Friday posts. I often put some time aside so I can enjoy reading them.

Five on Friday is great isn't it, I love Amy's blog. What fantastic photos you've shared, I particularly love the scenery in the one of you and your husband. And I bet Venice was amazing, it's somewhere I'd really love to go.
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
In answer to your question - the Green Man is an ancient symbol associated with various earth-based religions. He is also known as Jack in the Green and has two forms - one where he is simply a face covered in leaves (technically called a foliate head) and another where the leaves emerge from his mouth.
Apparently you do have them in Canada because of this:
http://talismancoins.com/content/Canada_2016_Sculptural_Art_of_Parliament_1_Wild_Green_Man_$25_UHR_Silver_3-Coin_Wooden_Case_FullPkg.jpg (You might have to paste that into your browser)
But I'm not sure whether you have them in buildings and such.
Cheers
The Anorak
