I was so happy to get out the patio furniture on the weekend. And best of all we purchased a new table as well ... our original table was much larger, but a strong wind lifted up the umbrella and table last summer and the glass top smashed to smithereens on the patio. Here's the new table ...
Well, once the snow melts away!!!! you'll be able to see it better :)
This morning I spied this poor little soggy mess hiding out in my compost bin ...
Can you see him in there?
My Resident Rabbit who has been chewing everything this winter and I guess he's had a pretty tough time out there in the very worst of it. I've noticed a few trees in our neighbourhood with the tell-tale signs of winter nibbling around their trunks from rabbits.
Inside, where we still have the furnace chugging away, despite warm temperatures yesterday of almost 20C, I have my mom's amaryllis blooming ...
Such a gorgeous bloom. She really loved these flowers and this is one of many that she had that I brought home with me after she passed away.
This beauty broke out in bloom on the anniversary of her death (April 8), and I can just hear her saying her favourite exclamation when something amazing like this happens, "Praise the Lord!".
Not a lot happening here, and therefore not many posts ... plus it's tax time and I'm immersed in that during all my spare time. So if I'm not back before the weekend, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.
Thanks for stopping by!
Wendy
It's a very special bloom! After 80* shorts and flip flops...we awoke to snow. Having unhappy thoughts about Mother Nature right now. I wonder if Easter Bonnets will be replaced with wool hats for egg hunting.
ReplyDeleteNow isn't that just amazing that her beautiful bloom appeared on that day! My goodness if that isn't a sign of her coming to give you a big hello! We have snow again here too and I am beginning to feel that this is just a bad joke! HA! Love that little rabbit in your compost all cozy and warm! And your new table is outstanding! A very happy Easter to you friend! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh bless, how lovely of it to bloom on that day. Have a good week. xx
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that the amaryllis bloomed on that day. She is watching over you.
ReplyDeleteAwww...the bunny is adorable! He looks like he's tired of winter too. Your Amaryllis are beautiful! Sending warm wishes your way!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, how special your bloom is-great photos and love the little bunny neighbor
ReplyDeleteLovely table Wendy, I'm sure it won't be long before you are sitting out there in the sunshine. That little rabbit is so cute it looks like he has suffered no ill effects after the cold winter he has just had to live through. I think the amaryllis is beautiful and how lovely that it bloomed on that day. Have a great Easter! xx
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that your Mom sent her Amaryllis to bloom for you. It is beautiful. I hope that the weather improves soon and that you can get out and start to enjoy your new garden furniture! Of course bunny might not be so keen when he finds himself evicted! xx
ReplyDeleteI love love love Amaryllis flowers - so beautiful and what a wonderful memory it brings for you!! We had lovely weather this weekend - close to 80 degrees but we are expecting sleet and an inch or two of snow tonight. At least it's only an inch!! :-) The bunny is adorable - I'm sure he's hoping for Spring weather too!
ReplyDeleteYour Mum's gift ,just for you!
ReplyDeleteThought the white on the table was a linen cloth..HA! I didn't say the 'S' word!!

Oh the poor little bunny.....
ReplyDeleteBut then again, you probably don't think that, when he and his pals are nibbling on what you want to grow, in summer. :-)
Ahhhhhh the snow! Ahhhhh spring! lol...
I'm so happy that your mom's beautiful plant is continuing to bloom for you. Such a warming sight, with the snow outside.
Pretty new blog look here. I like it.
Gentle hugs,
Tessa~
I just can't believe it is still snowing there in the middle of April... wow. What a cute little bunny. I love bunnies but have never had them in my yard. I never realized that they could do so much damage... that I would not like. It is amazing that your mom's amaryllis bloomed when it did... it is like a gift of good cheer from your mom in heaven.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bloom! That should keep you happy for a while.
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, the bunny is so adorable and the flower is so pretty. Have a nice Easter.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Gorgeous red flowers! At least you have spring inside ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy! I love the new look here on the blog.....it's so pretty and Spring like. Happy Easter to you and your family!!!

My goodness, you STILL have snow! Never mind, soon you will be sitting out around your lovely new table, enjoying beautiful Spring and all her gifts! What a blessing to have your Mum's plant bloom on that day, Wendy - happenings such as this are special. Ah that poor little rabbit - I know they can be such destructive little furries, but my heart goes out to him in his bedraggled state; great that he's found some shelter but I hope he doesn't do too much damage around your place before he heads off looking for a change of scenery. Happy Easter to you too Wendy, and your loved ones! Love, Joy xo
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your patio all pretty with Spring colour!! What a sweet little rabbit...hope he doesn't eat all your Spring blooms. Isn't that amazing that your mum's beautiful Amaryllis bloomed on that day, 'tis the most gorgeous bloom. Wishing you and your family a most blessed Easter!!
ReplyDeleteA blessing of a blossom. Snow in mid-April. Sigh. I couldn't even bring myself to take photos of it today. The little ones enjoyed it though. I need to follow their lead more. Now, had I seen that sweet rabbit visitor, I would surely have cheered up. Such a wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteEek, that's a lot of snow you've got there still! Lovely pic of the beautiful blossom, a pretty memory of your mum. Wishing you and yours a very happy & blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
I'm sure that rabbit is thinking what the heck? Snow! Again! Ha! Seems weather is back and forth for a lot of folks. A warming trend and then, bam, snow again. Sending warm wishes your way for a wonderful Easter. Tammy
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that your Amaryllis bloomed exactly on that date - surely a sign that Mum is watching over you. I planted a white rose in a little commemorative garden for my Mum and on the day my Father died a year later, it bloomed for the first time. I like to think it was a special message of love....Sweet little rabbit, hiding out from the snow. It is hard to garden with little hungry creatures all around, but sometimes we exchange flowers for the treasure of their visits. Thank you for your sweet visit and I do hope that this is the last of your snow! Your patio is lovely despite the frosting. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteOh that poor little rabbit! Amazing that he's survived such cold weather ...
ReplyDeleteLove how the Amarylis bloomed on the perfect day, isn't it strange when these things happen?
Hope yo have a wonderful Easter too, Wendy
Love Claire xx
Poor bunny, ours have had a tough winter too and eaten every shrub on the property. I've read that people have a way of letting us know they're still with us in spirit and the amaryllis was a sign from your mother.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Wendy
What a lovely bloom, and such perfect timing! I hope you have a peaceful and wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Wendy! We had snow the other day, and everyone here in Michigan felt so depressed....good thing it melted soon after!
ReplyDeleteLovely Wendy well your snow pictures look really cold! However, your wonderful flower from your Mom really brings back the warmth and colour - I am sure that your lovely Mom is looking over you all and enjoying her bloom too, it is fabulous. It seems that Mr Rabbit is doing ok although he looks a little chilled - he will be glad once the sun shines and I hope it does soon for you all. Have a wonderful Easter Wendy. Sending you huge hugs and loves

I'm glad the bunny found a bit of warmth in your bin! Your mom's plant is so pretty and what a nice time for it to bloom!
ReplyDeleteOh Wendy, your home is so cozy and I love the yellow paint on your walls the vibrant amaryllis!
ReplyDeleteI love bunny rabbits-they are so whimsical and cute, although I am sorry they have nibbled on things they shouldn't have.
Stay warm my friend and Happy Easter!
Love,
Jemma
That recent snowfall was pretty depressing wasn't it? At least we finally seem to be heading into some much better weather. Spring chores have become compacted and I find myself scrambling.
ReplyDeleteYour mother's amaryllis is such a nice reminder of her. It seems to be a bit of serendipity that it bloomed on the anniversary of her death.
Hope the taxes are going well and a refund is in order. Have a wonderful Easter!
I just discovered your blog, and I love it! Greetings from Spain :-)
ReplyDeleteWow what a blooming marvellous amaryllis Wendy, one of many beautiful ways of remembering your mum.
