Friends & Flowers

This weekend I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting up with fellow blogger, Judith of Lavender Cottage. This was my first blogging friend encounter, and we had a great time browsing the Antique Market up in Innisfil, Ontario. This is a huge antique market, and it took us hours to get through all the aisles, but we did it! Judith was examining the teacups and teapots, and I was examining everything ... I don't get to these places very often ;)

After the market we headed across the road for some much needed lunch. It was a really nice time, and I enjoyed talking with Judith and discussing this and that and blogging. Judith got a photo of us and sent it along to me. Here we are ...

We exchanged little gifts to each other, and Judith gave me this very cute little owl mug (and I'm actually having tea in it while I write this post). I love the colours in the mug ... isn't he cute! He's a generous size, and I particularly like the large handle with thumb rest. A lovely mug to drink from!

It was a very fun day for me, and I was just zonked when I got back home late in the afternoon. I did pick up a few things at the market. I found this lovely pottery tea pot, which I have now made into a plant pot. I was going to make it into a bird house like I have seen on Pinterest, but I figured the birds have all finished with nesting for the most part, so I popped a calibrachoa plant in there instead. I'm eventually going to hang this from a hook on the fence spout down, and the flowers trailing out of it. I'm just letting the plant root itself securely in there first so it will hold the soil in a bit better.

While I was planting this, I also dragged out a slightly leaky watering can that I picked up curbside a few years ago. I poked a few drainage holes in the bottom and stuffed a trailing verbena plant in there as well.

I also picked up a very cute toothpick holder, made in Ireland. I like the glaze on this little piece as it reminds me of 'heather' yarn. Don't you like the little shamrocks around the middle? I don't use toothpicks, and will most likely find a different use for it ... pincushion? .... maybe.

A nice garden bench for having a cup of tea, don't you think? This is my son's pond garden, and I've clipped the weigela back quite a bit as there was some winter kill throughout. It looks amazing now that it's in bloom! Just a rather large hole in the centre, but better than I had hoped for it at first.

Thank you Judith for the invite up to your neck of the woods!
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and our day together.

Today was a day of gardening bliss for me, but I'll share more on that in a few days' time.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Wendy ... and Cody ;)
