Smug Bunny

Today it warmed up considerably, and even though there was a gale-force wind blowing, it was a bright sunny day. While walking the dog yesterday morning I came across a nice thick patch of ice with some leaves trapped in it. I used to enjoy skating on a creek on our property as a child, and my brother and I would often just lay down on the clear ice and watch life moving in the water underneath us. It was always so fascinating to see the little plants waving in the flow of the water.

This morning I took my camera along with me and snapped a few shots of those maple leaves trapped in the ice. It was this white maple leaf that grabbed my attention yesterday. I'm not sure how this "ice leaf" was created, but I think there was some thawing and refreezing involved.

Then I just continued along this little patch of ice collecting shots. There were interesting depths of layering of leaves and ice that didn't come across in the photos, but I hope you enjoy them anyway. The layer of ice over top of the leaves made such a soft texture that I quite liked.

My daughter came home for the weekend. I always think she's missing us, but I don't think it's the people that live here that she wants to see as much as the animals she wants to cuddle ...

Smudge was quite happy to oblige. He exudes cuteness without even trying ;) A very smug bunny.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Wendy

  10. Love the bunny/daughter pictures! And the leaf pictures are stunning. I've seen leaves frozen under the ice before, but they weren't nearly as pretty as yours. Enjoy your weekend!

  12. Those frozen leaves are amazing. I've only seen things frozen like that once in my life and it only lasted a day or so. I think it's so cool and interesting to see something so fragile as a brown fallen leaf frozen and protected for a few more days.

Smudge is so adorable! He really does exude cuteness...maybe I'll get a bunny instead of a dog when I finish college! lol

  13. The leaves look amazing frozen in time like that! I had no idea that you had a rabbit!! There is still so much for us to learn about each other. Smudge and your daughter look very happy to see each other!! I expect that your daughter misses you just as much as she misses Smudge! At least if you are missing your daughter you can have a Smudge Hug! xx

  20. Bunnies do seem very complacent, don't they? and what a perfect portrait!
i also take many snaps of ice, and things-in-ice, but your leaves make me want to dig out my pastels and get to playing!

  21. I love those photos of the leaves trapped in ice. That is so interesting. Have you been having as snowy a winter as you did last year? I remember it being pretty relentless. I love that photo of your daughter with the rabbit, it looks like a magazine photo! I can see why she loves that rabbit so much, what a cutie and so soft and fluffy!

  22. Hi Wendy!
This bunny is absolutely the cutest of the cute, as is your daughter. We had bunnies when the girls were youngsters always so very cuddly and so curious too.
    Have a great Sunday,
    Hugs,

  25. Beautiful photos - nature's collages.

Smudge is precious and I can see why your daughter cam for a visit. We joke that our daughter took a position with a company in town because she loved our new puppy!

  27. Wendy your daughter is just beautiful, and what a cute bunny you have. Do they make great pets? I have heard that they do, but have never had one. Smudge is so cute and looks as if he is totally enjoying the cuddles.
