What?! Two posts in as many days?! I have been going in fits and starts with the ol' blog lately, for which I apologize. But in catching up with many of you for the past two hours this morning, I came across my friend Sandra's post about a reading challenge she is joining (thanks Sandra!). The challenge is through Becky's Book Reviews and you can read about it here.
I have a small stack of books from Christmas. I have always given my family a short list of books that I would like to receive for Christmas, and one of my favourite things to do on Christmas day while the turkey cooks in the oven, and everyone is lounging around with their new gifts is to sit in my reading chair with a new book and a hot cup of tea. I didn't do this this past Christmas. I still have not read further than one or two chapters in the first book I picked up ... "Silas Marner" ... but hopefully with this gentle reading challenge, that will change. I need to set some time aside to read. I seem to spend too much time working on projects lately (knitting, sewing, carving). I have some self-imposed deadlines there, so I will have to keep working on those projects steadily, but I'm missing reading quite a bit.
Today began sunny and bright, but within two hours the clouds have returned again. I'll look at this as an opportunity to cozy up indoors and read, knit and drink tea. Care to join me?
Blue skies seem quite elusive here as well. You might see them for a half hour before the clouds close in yet again.
ReplyDeleteThere never seems enough hours in the day to do everything you want to do and now that I've retired there still isn't enough time! I always seem to have deadlines too but they are all self imposed once my house is done and I can get back to normal I must set some time aside to just sit and read. I hope you managed to get some reading done today Wendy, have a good week. :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm just the opposite, I spend more time reading than crafting. I've read the Diana Gabalden books, but not Silas Marner.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to read more this year too. I have a loooooong list of books, but not enough time to read them!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that those things in which we enjoy and desire to do sometimes get pushed aside? Our plates become too full before we realize it.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to sit with you over a cup of tea, sweet lady.
Have a terrific week~

Being cosy with knitting or a book and a cup of tea is perfect for this time of year.

We finally had a sunny day today after two weeks of overcast . Yes reading in a fave chair with blanket a good book and a cuppa tea or two is right up my alley for sure when it is yukky out , however when the sun is out I am out in it lol ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, it is so easy to get tied up with crafting and put reading to one side isn't it. Glad you are enjoying your reading and taking some time out.
ReplyDeleteAh a woman after my own heart...when not at work I love nothing more than a cup of tea, an easy chair, my latest craft project and a good book....not at the same time of course. I have already read 5 books towards my 2017 reading challenge and Silas Marner is in my 'To Read' pile. x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day to me, Wendy! Enjoy!

Sounds wonderful! A good book and cup of tea in a cozy chair. Love your needlework :) x K
ReplyDeleteOh I have not been good about reading more recently either. But it always SOUNDS so good to me too! I just always seemed to get sidetracked by house chores or another project. It truly is a bit of heaven to me, though, when I do it. A good book, comfy chair and hot tea. Doesn't get much better. ;) xoox
