New Friends

One of the best things about blogging is the new friendships that are created.  I've struck up a few nice friendships between fellow bloggers in the year I've been blogging, and it really is nice to get to know new people through our blogs and emails.

One such friendship is with Dorothy of Dorothy's Room!  If you're already a follower of Dorothy's beautiful blog, you'll know she is a sincere and warm-hearted person who loves to share her amazing sewing creations.  If you haven't visited Dorothy, please pop over to her blog and give a little wave hello.  It's hard to believe that Dorothy is only branching out into the sewing field, as she comes up with some really amazing creations ... particularly with bags.  They're so creative and stylish and look so cute.  She adds personalized touches to the bags she makes as gifts too which is really nice.

I was recently a very happy winner of a giveaway Dorothy hosted, and the parcel she sent arrived from the UK yesterday.  I love getting mail from England with the "Royal Post" stamp looking all official and exciting!  When I opened the envelope, I was greeted with a prettily wrapped  package ... and then inside was a beautiful pink polka-dot bag with a felt flower embellishment and my name sewn on the interior ... so very cute!

But when Dorothy hands out a prize, she doesn't hold back ;)  Inside the pink bag was the bag that she featured in the giveaway ... a beautiful zippered pouch with elegant ladies on the fabric which Dorothy had embellished with little beads.  These ladies remind me of the illustrations on the front of sewing patterns from back in the 60's & 70's.  Inside the zippered pouch were even more wrapped treasures!

My daughter was enjoying the unwrapping as much as I was ... it was a slow day here ;)  More and more beautiful handmade items were brought forth ...

A very sweet notebook covered with woodland fabric ... perfect for my knitting when I want to jot something down for a pattern.  Also a small buttoned pouch which could hold some handy necessities.  I think most of these treasures will be destined for holding my knitting supplies.  I'll enjoy using them, and I just love all the beautiful fabrics Dorothy used in making these up.

And how about this lovely handkerchief by Cath Kidston with London landmarks, buses and taxis printed around it.  I must follow Dorothy's lead and make something special using this kerchief, and will think on that for a bit.

I was so thoroughly surprised and so pleased with all that Dorothy made.  Such beautiful little details were added everywhere ... even the interior of the zippered pouch is lined with a piece of vintage embroidered cloth.  There are special details on every piece ... beads on the ladies dresses, machine embroidery around the tops of the bags, appliqued hearts stitched on the interior, that felt flower :) ... all so very nice.  Thank you so much Dorothy for everything, it's all so beautiful and it made me so very happy to receive such gifts made from the heart :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Wendy
